Project Brief: "Design a chain reaction device that reflects the principles and aesthetic of the Bauhaus movement"

In this group project, we explored the Bauhaus movement and aimed to create a display that highlighted its most iconic elements. This involved studying Wassily Kandinsky's philosophy, particularly his theories on colour and his belief that art is a unified expression of body and spirit.
FOCUS BOARD
This focus board delves into the Bauhaus movement, examining its impact on design and showcasing some of the iconic products it inspired. I developed it as a reference guide to inform and support the project throughout its progression.
INITIAL CONCEPTS
During the concept generation phase, I explored the use of symbolic primary colors frequently associated with the Bauhaus movement. I researched iconic Bauhaus products, such as the baby cradle, to inspire our exhibit design. Our approach was to stay aligned with the Bauhaus philosophy and adhere to their principles of 'good design.'
PROTOTYPING
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
TESTING
Testing viscosity to achieve the perfect balance of suspension.
FINAL EXHIBITION
We developed a product designed to captivate attention, using the three primary colours. Paint flowed down to corresponding brushes, which then applied the paint to three distinct shapes. One shape rolled forward, triggering the next sequence in the chain reaction, seamlessly connecting to the following project.
